Great Animals and Landscapes

by Whitney & Michael

The trip was so easy and that was great – the Flash Safari team took care of everything from the moment we met up with them until we got to our airport transfer at the end, really made it easy.

Safari Operator Performance

We used Flash Safari & Photography, found them through internet research including customer reviews.

The trip was exceptional.

Our guide, Abraham Daniel, was absolutely outstanding. In every respect he is just a wonderful person and is a true gentleman, he clearly had it as his primary objective to ensure that Whitney and I had a great and safe experience. His driving was first class (making the best of very tough roads!) and his knowledge of the parks and the wildlife absolutely brilliant.

People always make the company and the experience and Abraham was definitely an invaluable asset, he was magnificent.

The safari was great, the route, the tours and accommodation were all right in line with our high expectations and that was great.

The organization, preparation, and carrying out of the plan was done very well from Edward meeting us after our drive from Nairobi, getting us to the USA football game, and also getting us to our transfer bus to get to Kilimanjaro airport.

The Manyara, Ngorongoro, and Serengeti parks were incredible, the amount of time we had at each park was perfect for us. Again, Abraham paced each day just perfectly, making sure we somehow spent the right amount of time in the morning and the afternoon but taking the break for lunch or getting back to the camp site in the evening at seemingly just the right time.

Accommodation

Permanent tented campsites near Lake Manyara (1st night) and Ikoma (nights 2 & 3), then 2 nights at Bougainevilla Hotel in Karatu. They were all great, excellent food and service. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

Wildlife

We saw the big 5 which was great.

Most of all the whole environment was incredible – the landscape of each park was just wonderful. The animals were obviously the reason we came but just to be a part of the landscape was magical.

The enormity of the Serengeti National Park was the highlight, seeing just thousands upon thousands of animals was amazing.

It was all so unique it is difficult to identify one highlight, there were 6 days of highlights!

Typical Day

Breakfast at 7:30am, hit the road at 8am.... game drive until ~12pm... lunch until ~1pm.... game drive in the afternoon, head back to the camp site in the later afternoon/early evening.... relax/clean up.... head to the restaurant for dinner.... see the magnificent night sky.... get some sleep, so into bed early!

Other Activities

We visited Olduvai Gorge and a Masai village, both were very worthwhile activities and added to the experience.

Tips and Advice

Come ready to relax, hang out, chase some wildlife... there will be periods to just take in the scenery with intermittent periods of high activity as you come across a unique animal or event – enjoy both!

The full rimmed hat that Flash Safari gave us on the first day, was key!!!

For stuff we had, sunscreen or if you had enough sun a light long sleeve top/pants to cover up from the sun. Also, the mornings can be quite chilly so a light jacket or sweatshirt was helpful.
