Cheetahs looking for lunch

I really loved our experience in Kenya, the continent of Africa is one which we have previously enjoyed having visited Egypt and Tunisia, but the purpose of Kenya was the safaris and they were magical. Watching the sun go down, beautiful sunrises over Kilimanjaro and the feeling that I had come home. Strange but magical.

Safari Company Performance
African Safari Club performed very well. The guides were knowledgable and very eager to get us the best angles for photos and the best wildlife varieties, from birds to the 'big boys'.
Accommodation
We stayed at Leopard Lodge at Kilimanjaro, and at a small off side lodge at Tsavo East.
Wildlife
We saw zebra, wildebeests, buffalo, giraffe, waterbuck, Thomson gazelle, warthogs (otherwise known as the Kenyan Express), foxes, hyenas, elephants all stunningly shown to perfection with Kilimanjaro in the background.

At Tsavo East we saw our big cats, namely cheetahs (3 families of mother and 3 cubs all at different stages of development), and a wonderful pride of lionesses and cubs. Unfortunately we did not see a male lion, he must have been well hidden.

And of course the famous 'red' elephants of Tsavo East, named after the colour of the earth and mud that they roll in, as well as large lizards, giraffes, buffalo, more gazelle and birds.

All of the above were accompanied by beautiful Umbrella trees which are an instantly recognisable sign that you are in Africa.
Tips and Advice
Although we booked our safaris through the African Safari Club, others staying at our hotel booked through locals and had excellent safaris as cheap as ours, some with their own guide too.

Disappointments or anything you would have done differently?
We were married during our 14 day stay which actually cut down the time we had for our safaris, and I would dearly have loved to have gone to the Masai Mara as those who were fortunate enough to go there saw all of the big 5 and got up close to most of them too. We did get up close and personal with most of the animals we saw so no complaints there.

I suppose my biggest disappointment was coming home.
Safari Rating
I would rate both safaris as 7, the only down side was the accommodation, which was fairly basic (but so was the price) and we did not see a leopard or rhino, so only 3 of the big 5.
