Mara River Crossing

Wildebeest Migration
The highlight of our Kenya safari was when the zebra started crossing the Mara river. And a day later: the wildebeest crossed the Mara river too. Ontdek Kenya planned it to perfection.
Safari Company Performance
Ontdek Kenya: Their performance was superb. Michael's knowledge about wildlife is enormous and Elijah is a very careful driver.
There were four people in our group and we were driven around in a Toyota Landcruiser with pop-up roof.
The roads are in terrible condition but my advice is to just accept that as part of the safari experience.
And don't forget to take along a camcorder which I found to be the most useful item in my luggage.Accommodation and Food
We stayed in 4/5 star hotels/lodges.
The best: Samburu Serena Safari Lodge, Maili Saba Lodge, Lake Naivasha Country Club and Mara Simba Lodge.
These hotels do not have local food on their menu (there are some exceptions, but few).Wildlife Seen
Dikdik, impala, vulturine guinea fowl, leopard, white-backed vulture, black rhino, generuk, hadada-ibis, spurwinged plover, Grevy's zebra, oryx, baboon, Grant's gazelle, Masai giraf, white fronted bee-eater, African darter fish eagle, Ruppell's longtailed starling, superb starling, giant kingfisher and too much more to mention.Other Activities
We went on a walk in Hell's Gate, another in the Menengai-Crater and we visited a Samburu village.
We also took a boat tour on lake Naivasha and on lake Baringo.
