Pig Pictures of the Red River Hog

  pig pictures

These pig pictures show the reddest hogs you will probably ever see. It's the aptly  named red river hog that can be found throughout western and central Africa.

They are currently quite common and not on the endangered list at all which makes a nice change from the normal.

Their name derives from their beautiful red coat and the fact that they like wallowing in ponds and streams during hot weather.

They are most active at night, preferring to spend the day in burrows that they excavate themselves in dense vegetation.

These pigs are fast runners and good swimmers, which they need to be because they make a tasty morsel for any hungry lion, leopard or hyena which might cross their path.
