1. L'Hotel Anjajavy
Some trip reviewers have gone as
far as to say that this is the best Madagascar hotel they have ever stayed in.
It's a 4-star luxury hotel that faces the Mozambique Canal and is located
120 km north of Majunga (the 'Flower City') surrounded by 450 hectares of
natural park where you will find lemur and other wildlife.
The service is reputed to be of
an extremely high standard in an informal, relaxed atmosphere.
Accommodation is in individual thatched cottage rooms over looking the beach and
sea containing a living room with a drawing
room corner, a breakfast corner and a bedroom. Stairs lead to the first floor
where you will find a room that can be used as an office, a children's bedroom
or a guest room. The bathroom is equipped with a king size bathtub and is separate from
toilets. A noiseless and individual climate control system maintains a constant
ideal temperature in each room.
The hotel also boasts an overflow 200 square meter swimming pool facing the sea
and a restaurant and bar serving international cuisine with
Malagasy flourishes.
2. Hilton Madagascar
This hotel is situated in Antananarivo,
the capital city of Madagascar overlooking Lake Anosy and will provide you with
an excellent base for exploring the rest of the island.
You can take your pick between
four restaurants and bars on site and if you want to update your online travel
journal and e-mail the people back home about your trip the business centre has
internet access.
If you prefer to spend some time
at the hotel there are a multitude of leisure activities to choose from like
swimming, tennis, fitness club with jacuzzi, sauna, turkish bath, casino
gambling and a discotheque. Boredom is not an option at this hotel.
3. Vanila Hotel
This establishment has received
good reviews and is situated on the western coast of Nosy Be island which
is where you will find black lemur, sportive lemur, panther chameleon and
Malagasy tree boa.
A three-star hotel where each bedroom is air-conditioned and
opens onto a terrace with a magnificent view on the sea and a tropical garden.
The restaurant and bar also enjoy a panoramic view on the
sea and the meals on offer include local
products like fish, lobster, crab, zebu meat and exotic fruits.
The obligatory swimming pool is
also available to fend of the worst of the heat.
4. Vakona Forest Lodge
This lodge is the perfect base
from which explore the nearby Andasibe/Perinet National Park which is a mere 7km
away and contains lemur, chameleon, frogs and birds.
Madagascar accommodation is in bungalows
with en-suite bathrooms and dining is done in the central restaurant and bar
area with a mixture of good cuisine on offer.
Activities
include a swimming pool, horse riding, canoeing, squash and ping pong facilities
but you will probably be spending most of your time in the nearby park gawping
at the amazing wildlife. Madagascar hotels are rarely better situated than this
one.
