Safari Operator Performance
I found Kafunta Safaris on the internet.

Everything was excellent.
Accommodation
We stayed 3 nights at Kafunta River Lodge and 3 nights at Island Bush Camp, both situated at the Luangwa River. Both camps excellent.

Some background - our trip was a memory trip to Lusaka and the Bush. We lived (worked) in Zambia 1973-75. We were in the bush as much as possible doing hunting and fishing. We stayed in our own camps in the hunting areas and also with a friend who was working as a prof hunter with Zambia Safaris.

We were looking for a safari company who were operating camps as close to the camps with Zambia Safaris as possible, i.e. no electricity and not too fancy.

We found that with Kafunta Safaris although all the huts had private toilet and shower and the Kafunta River Lodge also had electricity. For us the Island Bush Camp was the best, most primitive.

It was great just to be back in the bush after 30 years.
Food
Food was good. Continental breakfast, lunch and dinner hot 3 courses meal. We did not eat local or traditional food.
Typical Day
Kafunta River Lodge:

Wake up 5:15, breakfast 5:30, game drive 6:00, stop for a light meal approx 8:00, home approx 10:00, lunch 11:00, relax till 15:30 afternoon tea/coffee/cake, afternoon drive 16:00, stop for a "sun downer" approx 18:00, night drive with spotlight till 20:00 returning to Camp, 20:00 dinner followed by drinks at the fire.

Island Bush Camp:

Wake up 5:15, breakfast 5:30, boat to cross the river 6:00 for walking safari, stop for light meal 8:00 returning to camp 10:00, lunch 11:00, relax till 15:30 afternoon tea/coffee/cake, walking safari till 18:00, 20:00 dinner followed by drinks at the fire.
Tips and Advice
Travel light.

Remember to take binoculars.
